The glass container production process starts with the selection of the raw materials. The main component is glass cullet, an element obtained from internal recycled glass and from glass recycling consortiums. This aspect consents us to minimize the use of new naturally sourced raw materials, allowing us to close the colored glass production cycle with 70% of recycled raw material.
Melting
The vitrifying mixture, composed of glass cullet, sand, sodium and other small components able to give the best physico-chemical features and the desired color to the glass, is introduced into the melting furnace where it reaches temperatures around 2900°F. This is where the magma comes to life, and once directed into the canals it’s finally ready to be shaped.
Forming
The molten glass gob is then delivered to the molds installed on the forming machine where, through a pneumatic compression process, the mouth and the general figure are first formed then, a second blow defines the final shape.
Annealing, quality control, packaging
The surface of the obtained product is treated in order to improve the glass features and the container is slowly cooled to dissolve the tensions.
Once the quality control fundamental phase is completed thanks to sophisticated machines and the expertise of the human eye, the bottles are packed and stored, according to the HACCP standards, and are ready to be shipped to our customers located all over the world. Vetri Speciali answers to the requests of both small companies and larger ones needing big volumes. A production goes from several hundreds of bottles for large formats and 6000 units for 75 cl bottles to millions of pieces.
